Fresh air can be critical to whole-family sanity, don’t you think? Enjoy togetherness, but don’t forget to leave the house. Here are some East Bay outings that are available this weekend.
- Oakland Ice Center: Four open skate sessions on Saturday the 24th. (My review of this venue.)
- Playland-Not-At-The-Beach: Special holiday activities sound like fun for kids of grade school age. (What is it?)
- Farmer’s Markets: The Ecology Center website says that the Farmer’s Market will operate as usual on Saturday, December 24.
- Contemporary Jewish Museum: Learn all about Houdini and enjoy hands-on activities for kids at a free admission day at the Museum (sponsored by Target) on Christmas Day.
Tilden Park’s Steam Trains: Take a ride on Christmas Eve. Closed on Christmas Day.Blargh! I just learned this is not so. No trains for you!- Lawrence Hall of Science: Current exhibits are super fun for all ages. Admission is expensive, so if you go, consider upgrading to a one-year membership as a gift to your whole family.
- Church: We’d guess that if you’re going to go, this is the weekend to do it! Northbrae invites the public to a Children’s Community Service.
- Movies: Muppets, anyone? Unfortunately, my children would rather see CHIPwrecked, starring The Chipmunks. Ugh!
- The Theatre: A Christmas Carol in San Leandro or The Grinch Who Stole Christmas in San Francisco? (For The Grinch, we have a code for you to use to save $20. Input “1CINDYLOU” when you purchase tickets for all 11am and 7:30pm performances.)
- USS Hornet in Alameda: 510Families contributor Wendy says this was a super fun outing for her little boys, 3 and 7. Open until 3 pm on Christmas Eve.
Me, my boy, and The Grinch in San Francisco today. (Thanks for the tickets, SHN!)
