Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival in Oakland

Hey movie lovers, the Bay Area International Children’s Film Festival 2020 (BAICFF) takes place this February in Oakland, and the programming is more than just screen-time. Expect films by and for children along with cool classes where they can get their hands and minds busy making movie magic. Ticket prices vary based on what you want to do and how old you are.

When: February 22-23, 2020
Where: Chabot Space and Science Center, Skyline Drive, Oakland, CA
In addition to screenings of films throughout the weekend (see the schedule), many workshops look compelling for my own children.

Movies (including shorts!) and Panel Discussions

The shorts for all ages category includes Oscar-winning, Hair Love, among nine other animated short films. Another section of programming includes short films intended for kids older than seven. Panel discussions focus on kid-friendly topics like “How did they do that?” and you won’t want to miss live musical performances, either.

Animation & Shorts Workshops at BAICFF

BAICFF workshops allow kids to work in small groups to create engaging short animated films. The entire festival audience has a chance to view the creative results each afternoon as the footage is edited into a humorous, collaborative short film with music and sound effects and projected on the big screen! The workshops this year include pixilation ($30), the artist’s career ($0), clay puppet animation ($30), and character design ($10).
