Bites Off Broadway — a rotation of 15 food trucks in Oakland — will again bring the vibe of a neighborhood block party and picnic to the front of Studio One, at 465 45th St. between Lawton and Broadway on Friday nights, beginning May 10. Trucks will include Tina Tamale, Doc’s of the Bay, Fist of Flour, and Annakoot. The weekly event occurs every Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 PM until October.
Grassy space for dining on blankets is available, and every week features a hula hooper, ping pong, and some family movies at dusk outside, sponsored by Studio One. Look for live music as well. Face painter Alana Dill, whose work I’ve seen at a birthday party, will be on hand May 10th.
The popular Pop-Up Shabbat occurs mostly the 2nd Friday of the month with live klezmer music starting on opening night, hosted by Kehilla Community Synagogue.
I find feeding my picky kid from a food truck challenging — unless there’s a pizza truck — so I might pack a lunchbox for him and then the rest of us can enjoy the diverse offerings.
