Bay Area International Children's Film Festival this weekend

In a restored Art Deco theater in Alameda, over the weekend of January 28-29, the Bay Area International Children's Film Festival will present animated, live action, short and feature length films as well as hands-on film-making workshops for children ages 6 and up.

Each day will include a showing of several short films in the morning followed by a feature film, and a second group of short films in the afternoon with a second feature at the end of the day.  The morning films were selected for all ages; children 6 and over will be particularly engaged by the afternoon shorts; and the afternoon feature is geared toward ages 8 and up.

All tickets provide access to multiple films. Regular ticket prices: half-day pass is $10, a full-day pass is $15, or weekend pass is $20.  Early-bird discounted tickets ($15 for a weekend pass) can be purchased online from December 7 - January 13 at www.baicff.com. Filmmaking workshop tickets can also be purchased online. Space is limited.

Local food purveyors will be selling international food.

Update: BAICFF is thrilled to announce a surprise screening of a locally produced film on the short list for an Oscar nomination. Stay tuned to learn more. Additional programming includes Pizzangrillo (Italy), Luminaris (Argentina), and A Cat in Paris (France).

We have a set of FOUR WEEKEND PASS TICKETS TO GIVE AWAY!

my 4 1/2yr old has seen a good number of animated films (Disney, Ghibli, other), but she has a special thing for Sleeping Beauty. You might show your (3.5+ yr old) child "The Lost Thing" short film, based on the picture book of the same name...

This festival sounds great! I love film festivals where one can see kids films not ordinarily in the mainstream. Some of the best talent lies in these type of film festivals. Looking forward to this!
