Day trip to Sausalito's Discovery Museum

The Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) in Sausalito is a super fun hands-on science museum campus with activities that will entertain, educate, and get the ya-yas out. Really. The museum grounds are located at the base of the Golden Gate bridge on 7.5 acres.

The Museum is recognized as the leading children’s museum dedicated to nurturing childhood creativity, fostering future generations of creative thinkers and innovators. With this emphasis on creativity through play, the Museum encourages children ages 6 months to 8 years to develop into curious, creative, adventurous lifelong learners and explorers.

Little toddlers can cordon themselves off in the tot spot with tumbling, climbing, water play (bring a set of dry clothes for the ride home!), and soft manipulatives.

Bigger kids can explore the back woods area, dabble in art projects, investigate motion, and find new ways to express their creativity.

The BADM is comprised of several buildings on an open campus so it might be rather dreary on a rainy day (unless you hunker down in a favorite section or don't mind getting wet). The concession stand has several good healthy options but there is also an open picnic area for bringing your own food.

DISCOUNT: Now through September 12, save $2 when you buy tickets online using the code 510families at baykidsmuseum.org/store/admission/museum-admission.html

FREEBIE: Saturday August 28 is Wells Fargo Day, the first 500 kids dressed up as cowboys get in FREE!

NOTE: BADM will be closed for one week maintenance from Sept 13 - 20. So, don't go then.
