We live in a region of the country noteworthy for its many delicious restaurants. The East Bay practically invented locavorism, right? But food delivery? I think the chilly East Coast or chubby midwest invented that convenience. In the East Bay, we are lacking options.
What’s a lazy or rookie parent supposed to do when there is no dinner plan? Here are a few of the special places in town that do deliver:
Pizza in a pinch: Lanesplitters. I like to ask them to cut my cheese pizza in extra-slim kid-size slices. Perfect for a playground or potluck. Call 510-527-8375 for reliably good NY-style pizza.
Curry in a hurry: Khana Peena. Solano Street’s favorite Indian place delivers hot tasty tikka and naan. Delivery within 5 miles of N. Berkeley Solano Street location. Call 510-528-2519. You’re welcome.
(Organic) Thai on your table: Thai Delight delivers reliable pad thai and in a hurry. Call 510-549-0611 [dinner menu]
A mouthful of Brazil: Brazil Fresh-squeeze Cafe. Delivers in Berkeley after 5pm (starting 1/22). Folks rave about the cilantro-laden tri-tip sandwich and mango smoothie. Call 510-845-8011.
Do you have your own go-to delivery spots in the {510}? We’re all ears!

Little Saigon (Vietnamese, simple but good pho), Mehak (Indian), Cha’am (Tha), Siam Cuisine (Thai), LaVal’s (pizza, if they ever re-open).
India Palace (on University) has delicious entrees and the tandoori chicken is an especially good deal. Plus you get 2 free na’an breads with your order if it is above $20
Mayflower Chinese (also on University) is good, reasonably priced Chinese and does not have MSG in any of their dishes.
I can say “chubby midwest” because I’m from there Ohio by way of Chicago and Wisconsin. I say it with love.
