Kids who would like to get on stage have a new opportunity for performance education. Classes in Alameda and Piedmont will prepare 5-11 year olds to present THE ARISTOCATS KIDS in December.
Bay Area Children’s Theatre (BACT), best known for bringing popular children’s literature to the stage for family audiences, brings its Youth Education Program to the {510} area code for a fall season.
“We are very excited about expanding our programs to Piedmont and Alameda,” said BACT’s Executive Director Nina Meehan. “We have loyal audience members in both communities, and it is thrilling to be able to offer families the opportunity for their children to become personally involved in the art of theatre.”
Piedmont classes begin September 12 at the new Piedmont Center for the Arts, 801 Magnolia Avenue.
Alameda classes begin September 20 at Rhythmix Cultural Works, 2513 Blanding Avenue.
Both programs are starting the year with productions of Disney’s musical, THE ARISTOCATS KIDS.
Classes for “Young Performers,” ages 7-11, will feature performance techniques for acting, singing, and dancing, as students prepare to perform THE ARISTOCATS KIDS.
Classes for “Little Performers,” ages 5-6, will feature training in basic theatre techniques, as students prepare selected songs from THE ARISTOCATS KIDS, which they will perform on stage with the Young Performers.
Students in BACT’s Piedmont program will have the special opportunity to perform THE ARISTOCATS KIDS on the stage at Freight & Salvage in the heart of Berkeley’s downtown arts district.
