Eva Bramwell, an East Bay mom of two, is the owner of Woohoo Fit (a personal training studio with fun butt-kicking workouts) on Solano Ave. At my suggestion, she recently highlighted some of her favorite healthy takeout choices in Berkeley and Albany.
Three of her picks include:
1.Kyoto (Japanese, sushi)
This takeout only sushi spot is great when you need food super fast. Everything is pre-made and you can look through the sushi and pick out what looks best. To keep it healthy go for the brown rice sushi. They offer some vegetarian sushi rolls and cooked rolls/ dishes for those who are not so sure about the whole raw fish thing. Recommended: brown rice sushi, seaweed salad, edamame. Website: http://www.kyotosushiberkeley.com/2. Bua Laung (Thai)
Thai food is a great option, and it tends to have milder flavors which is good for kids who don’t always like spicy food. If you staying away from rice and anything fried, you’ll find lots of tasty possibilities. Recommended: fresh spring rolls, chicken satay (comes with peanut sauce) Website: http://www.bualuangalbany.com/3. Cactus (Mexican)
To keep Mexican food healthy, lose the cheese, and rice and don’t get a burrito. A yummy, healthy way to go is a chicken or bean plate with guacamole, salsa, and salad. Website: http://cactustaqueria.com/
