Keep your booster seat a little longer

As of January 1, 2012, California state law requires your child to be in a booster seat longer. That might mean that you need to dig it back out of the garage (or buy yourself another!) for the tall seven-year old in your life. Per the CHP website, the updated law states:

Children under the age of 8 *OR* under 4 feet 9 inches in height must be secured in a car seat or booster seat.

Additionally, children under age 8 must be secured in the back seat.

I don’t know about you but I had to read that a few times to figure out if we were talking about tall young kids or short older kids… In other words, this means that children must ride in the back seat in a properly secured child passenger safety restraint until they are at least 8 years old or until they are at least 4 feet 9 inches in height.
