For more than 20 years Dr. Bruce Linton has been facilitating Dad’s Groups for Fathers of Young Children and teaching a “Becoming a Father” class at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, California. He leads several classes and groups to help men in our area become the fathers they want to be. He also offers family counseling sessions.
Dr. Linton has three offerings of interest to new dads:
1. The next Becoming a Father class is offered on January 23, 2011 from 1:00PM to 3:30PM at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley, California. The goal of this class is to provide the expectant father confidence about the childbirth experience and to reduce stress and anxiety about becoming a father. Cost is $25 (sliding scale for those in need) For additional information or to register see fathersforum.com.
2. The Men’s Group For Fathers meets every other week and is limited to seven men. Cost is $60 per month. Discussion topics vary. For more information and to inquire about openings, see fathersforum.com.
3. The Parents’ Journey includes 3 individual sessions with your partner (and Dr. Linton) to discuss your family’s unique needs as you make the transition from couple to family. These special meetings help prepare you to make the most of the early years of parenthood. Meeting ever other week, explore your family background and expectations about marriage and parenting.
Dr. Linton is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in working with fathers and couples with young children, receiving his Ph.D for his research on ‘Men’s Development as Fathers from Pregnancy to a Year Post–Partum.”
