In doing research on summer camp, I have come across a few opportunities for spring break programs that may line up with your childcare needs. Here are three camps that offer two different one-week sessions.
- Zoo Camp – At the Oakland Zoo, kids learn about animals, do arts and crafts, puppets and music. The dates are April 2-6 and April 9-13 and children must be in K-5. Zoo Camp is a series of unique one-day classes, so families may pick and choose the days they need. Activities will not be repeated. Camp runs from 9 am to 4 pm and extended care is available. The price is $60/day for non-members; $55 for members.
- Glitter and Razz – Located in Rockridge, this drama camp for boys and girls will run April 2-6 & April 9-13. The theme is This N2 That/Transformation. For ages 4-5 and 6-8, $285 & $300
- Head Over Heels – At the Emeryville gymnastics center, families can register for a full week or any of the days from April 2-6 & April 9-13.Children must be completely potty trained, but can do half-day camp as young as age 3 and full day as young as 4. A full day is from 9 am to 4 pm. The prices are Full-Day, Full-Week—$300; Half-Day, Full-Week—$245; Full or Half-Day, Single-Day—$70; Extended-Care (7:30am-5:30pm)—$20 per day.

also Monkey Business: http://www.monkeybusinesscamp.com/springreg.htm
Monkey Business Camp is also a great option! They do programs for Spring Break as well
Habitot and MOCHA and the Downtown Oakland YMCA are doing them, too.
(My mom’s group website hasn’t been updated for a couple of years now. But the group is still going strong!)
Thanks for the heads-up about Glitter & Razz, Whitney! When I was doing research on this a few weeks ago, I called them and they said they didn’t know if they were having a spring break camp. She’s now signed up.
For others: Our daughter loved Monkey Business camp over winter break, but sadly they’re not having (yet) a camp for the BUSD spring break schedule. If you have an Oakland kid, highly recommend.
Another option that I haven’t tried: Jewish Community Center camp: http://www.jcceastbay.org/school-s-out-days-winter-spring-break-camps/
Sarah’s Science has a one week Spring Break camp running April 9 – 13 in Oakland by Lake Merritt. See: http://www.sarahscience.com/pages/spring.html
