- Gentle hills. Moderate. Serene. You really can start the weekend peacefully – do a trail hike with “East Bay Moms.”
- Find out what happens when you mix cardboard with pool water – it’s Derby Day at West Campus Pool.
- Pack some lawn chairs, warm blankets and a picnic to watch a movie under the stars: Bedtime Stories or The Muppets.
- Speaking of skies, you can watch the sky turn into a rainbow of kite characters on Saturday and Sunday at the Berkeley Kite Festival. (Kid Zone included!)
- Take your kids to see other kids, on stage, performing Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. at Berkeley Playhouse.
- Rejoice! Head Over Heels is open again for open gym!
- Here’s something to “write home” about: the Ohlone Basket Welcoming Event at the Oakland Museum of CA. (Free admission is part of the celebration.)
- Storytime AND coffee: Farley’s East is where you can find that.
- The lively and soulful show of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory is still making for some sweet entertainment at Berkeley Playhouse.
- Swing by Alameda this weekend for food trucks and folk tales.

Just a tip for Head Over Heels — call before you go! We went on monday after checking the website and seeing the announcement about it being open — drove all the way from El Cerrito, only to get there and see a sign on the door saying it was cancelled. So disappointing for a very excited 3 year old and her mama. They assured me it was on the site, so I brought it up right there on my phone — the front page had a lengthy article about the reopening that required a click through to see it all and at the bottom of that long announcement, it said it was cancelled.
Anyway, we hope to go this week, but I will definitely be calling them first!:)
We went to the Kite Festival for the first time — what a great event! We went a little before 10 to avoid traffic and had no problems getting in and had an amazing time.
