When I started to write this post, deal-of-the-day site Zulily had a bunch of backpacks with great patterns and even better prices. Then, I identified the best choices in quality and sized for little ones (preschool thru 1st grade) on Amazon. Here are my favorites that, by not being sold at Target, will probably be the only one of its kind in a class.
By High Sierra, this one is bright and less than twenty bucks. Will probably hide dirt pretty well.
Birds & Blossoms Curve Backpack – $19.99
Also by High Sierra, a pack with a built-in carabiner would win over my son easily.
Cobalt & Chartreuse Loop Backpack – $27.99
Something I would totally do: Say “I got you a Spider-Man backpack!” when there is no specific Spider-Man branding on this pack.
Crimson Crystals & Royal Cobalt Blaster Backpack – $23.99
I think this busy pattern would be easy to spot in a pile of packs, which is where I have to look for one after school each day.
Henna Dragon & Aquamarine Fat Boy Backpack – $23.99
This one is preppy, with a monogram that might have to be explained to your kid. If your child has two last names or two middle names, I’d skip that whole situation.
Navy & White Geometric Monogram Backpack – $38.99
This solid “SuperBreak” pack from Jansport comes in every color you can imagine on Amazon, including florescent hues, which are my daughter’s current favorites. Click on the pack to see all your color choices.
Also on Amazon, check out the Jansport Half Pint Backpack for smaller frames.
The cutest backpacks, though, for those kiddos who will still tolerate cute, are the skip*hop Zoo Packs that come in many animal flavors. Matching (or non-matching) lunchboxes available, too.
I just love the monkey! As of this writing, it’s $32 for a set that includes both lunchbox and backpack. See what’s available on Amazon.
