When I attended a recent Safari Sue-themed birthday party complete with animal face-painting, storytelling, and balloon-folding tricks, I knew I wanted to share. The party was at a Berkeley home (so the parents provided the yummy food) and the entertainer kept the kids happy and busy the whole time.
The children were treated to all manner of thematic games and activities by “Safari Sue”, played by an enthusiastic actress named Lanie, part of the birthday party entertainment team at Fire Pixie. Even though my six-year old son wasn't feeling like much of a joiner — and left without a painted face — he had a blast along with the other kids, and I was free to converse with the grown-ups. It seemed like exactly the kind of low-stress party, I might one day consider hosting in my own home (or, still, better, a park where I have no clean-up!) I was truly impressed.
Upon delving into their website, I learned that Fremont-based Fire Pixie specializes in princess parties and has a gajillion other themes too: Pirates, Scooby Doo, Indiana Jones, Mermaids, Hula Girl, Cars, Fancy Nancy, Hello Kitty…Don't see your child's favorite on the list? I bet they'd work with you to create something new.
What you get: A high-energy entertainer performing 1-4 activities over the span of 60 to 120 minutes based on your preferences. The party can take place indoors or outdoors: you provide the venue.
What it costs: Prices are quoted for an hourly rate based on number of children attending and the type and quantity of activities desired; you can use the web form for a custom quote. Call 510.367.4517 to arrange a party.
ps I hear Lanie also plays a wicked good Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her or book her myself!
