Join for the Children’s Storyteller Series and Teen Open Mic at Chapter 510’s writing center at the heart of Oakland’s First Friday street festival.
Bookmaking activities for all, DJ XCAIROCITOSX will be spinning tunes, and tacos will be hopping out of Two Mamacitas Pop-up Kitchen all night!
6 – 7 pm: Teens are invited to participate in a writing workshop with poet Gabriel Cortez
6:30 – 7 pm: Local children’s book author Meera Sriram will read from her beautiful book The Yellow Suitcase, followed by sixth-grader Galilea Ochoa who will read from her published children’s book The Wish Tree
7:30 – 8:30 pm: Teen open mic hosted by poet Rae’Chel Stanley and featuring teen poet Simone Jacques. Teens, come early to make sure you get a spot in the lineup!
