Learn about the Japanese art of Taiko drumming. Feel the thunderous sounds of the drums as language, culture, and history combine into an exciting educational experience. Attendees may even get a chance to play the drums yourself!
All ages are welcome.
Kristy Oshiro is a 4th generation Japanese Okinawan-American professional taiko artist with 30 years of experience. Kristy started playing taiko at age 9 and was an instructor and youth programs director at Sacramento Taiko Dan from 2007-2014. They have performed and given taiko workshops across the US and around the world.
May is AAPI Heritage Month.
