LGBTQ Parent-Child Playgroup [0-5yrs]

Parents and caregivers of children 0-5 years are invited to join the Friday morning parent-child playdate.

Be in community with other LGBTQ caregivers and families, share resources, and interact with their children to support their psycho-social developments, parent-child bonds, and protective factors that help strengthen our families. These playdates are held weekly in Oakland. There will be facilitated circle time, snacks, free play, and community building.

Please register in advance to ensure Our Family Coalition can accommodate you, as attendance is limited for safety reasons. Meet at Lake Merritt playground between Rotary Nature Center and Lake Merritt Labryinth off of Bellevue Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610

This group will be facilitated by MITALI PURKAYASTHA. Mitali (they/them) is a Trans* non-binary South Asian Bay Area based Early Childhood Educator and Post Partum and Family Doula.  They have been building networks and co-horts of Queer & Trans families in the Bay Area for over a decade creating a network named GQVillage (a group for QT for families of color). From 2017-2020 they taught at Abundant Beginnings Freedom Forest School. Mitali used to enjoy Our Family Coalition Playgroups while on the OFC programs staff and often brought their co-horts of littles from their care space to attend. They are excited to take the facilitator chair at the Parent-Child Interactives. Mitali is a 0-5 educator and specialist and coaches families in Radical Mindful Child Rearing, working in school settings as well as providing 1:1 family counseling support.
