Come to the “Weekend Open House and Train Show” on May 17 & 18 from 11am to 6pm.
Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society’s permanent H.O. scale layout is one of the most mountainous in the United States, with over 4,400 feet of track covering an area of 1,900 square feet and climbing to an elevation of four feet. Our members operate many unique freight and passenger trains from days past when steam was king. Visit the towns of “Port Allen”, with its busy seaport, naval ships and operating bascule bridge; “Mallard” where, in days long past, the ferry “Ramon” would convey trains of the Sacramento-Northern across the Strait; “Diablo” to view our expansive freight sorting “hump” yard; “Olympia” to view operations of the electric trolley system as it travels through the city; and “Thompson Flat” and view the narrow gauge railway as it ascends to the alpine cog railway and aerial gondola.
