Hands-on gigantic kinetic sculpture on display from January 11 – March 25, 2018
Exploring the intersection of art and physics, Ned Kahn's Seed Vortex shifts a transient sea of tiny mustard seeds in a slow, constant, and captivating spin. This enormous sculpture weighs thousands of pounds and spans 24 feet in diameter, and addresses life's puzzles: eternity, unity, chaos, and change. Ned Kahn is a MacArthur fellow who lives and works in the Bay Area, and has placed numerous public artworks around the world, including Wind Fins at Walnut Creek's Neiman Marcus. Kahn’s other pieces featured in the show include work generously on loan from the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art in Napa, many of which are “hands-on” and participatory.
