Online Drawing Classes for Kids (ages 6-9)

Oakland raised cartoonist and educator Ryan Alexander-Tanner is hosting online drawing classes for kids ages 6-9 (Mon, Wed, Fri at 1 pm) and 9-12 (Wednesdays at 2:30 pm) over Google Hangouts.

Drawing for Ages 6-9: These hour-long classes invite participants to request a subject or technique to be the focus of the lesson (if students don’t have a request in mind, the instructor will choose the focus of the lesson). The instructor will then use screen sharing so that students can draw along as he guides them, step-by-step, through the day’s lesson. The instructor will regularly check-in on students progress and offer encouragement and helpful tips to assist students in creating their best work. Age requirements are not strict: a precocious 5 year old may join, as can a 10-year old who doesn’t mind being the oldest kid. Parents are welcome to sigh their kids up for as few or as many of these classes as they wish.
