Learn dances from around the world at SummerDance!
Experience a new dance each week, three Saturdays in a row this July at the Main Library. Experts will lead group dance instruction workshops in the Bradley C. Walters Community Room – or outside! Enjoy the beautiful Oakland summer weather, experience dance from diverse cultures, and meet new neighbors. No experience necessary!
Palestinian folk dance workshop taught by Wael Buhaissy and members of Palestinian Dabke: Aljuthoor of the Arab Shatat. Al-juthoor, meaning “roots” in Arabic, will teach us dabke, the indigenous folk dance of the Levant region (which includes Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, and parts of Jordan and Iraq).
