Mark your calendar for the 14th Annual Taste of Africa Festival, produced by Cheza Nami Foundation, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bankhead Plaza in Downtown Livermore. Admission and parking are free, making it easy for families to stop by for a few hours or enjoy the full day.
Taste of Africa® is a joyful celebration of Africa and her Diaspora, filled with live music, dance, food, storytelling, art, and hands-on family experiences. Throughout the day, families can enjoy cultural performances and learn directly from African and African Diaspora artists and teaching artists.
Kids can create, play, and participate in the Karibu Circle Kids Zone, featuring storytelling, crafts, face painting, family activities, and Daisy the Clown. The outdoor Moving Together Dance Studio will also offer free dance and movement classes for children, teens, and adults.
Come hungry. Food vendors will serve grilled favorites, Jollof rice, Kenyan BBQ, savory Tanzanian dishes, Chicago style BBQ, desserts, refreshing treats, and flavors inspired by Africa and her Diaspora. Families can also shop the African marketplace for clothing, jewelry, artwork, books, handmade goods, and products from African and Black-owned businesses.
