Concluding the ten “Days of Awe” beginning with Rosh Hashanah is the reflective, solemn holiday of Yom Kippur, which starts with the Kol Nidre service.
Tawongans and friends who are 13 and older are invited to join Tawonga’s first-ever Early Kol Nidre service on Tuesday, October 4 from 3-5pm for a soul-searching and musical observance.
The Tilden Minyan, the originators of Camp Tawonga’s annual Rosh Hashanah Celebration, branch out with an inspiring Erev Yom Kippur service amongst majestic redwood and eucalyptus. Tawonga is offering this “Early Service” so that those who later wish to observe Kol Nidre in a synagogue or elsewhere are able to. (For those who joined last year, before Tawonga partnered up, you know how special it was!)
Join for prayer, reflection, learning and of course, music. There will also be a picnic and discussion. Whether or not you plan to fast for Yom Kippur, you may also bring a picnic meal to share with family and friends following the service. Those who are interested can take part in a contemplative discussion during this time by following along with questions we will be providing in our service literature.
Please register in advance. Meet at Pinewood Picnic Area in Joaquin Miller Park (3600 Joaquin Miller Rd, Oakland, CA 94621).
