Virtual Talk with author of Marvel’s Shang-Chi!

Gene Luen Yang joins the library to discuss his latest work and the reclamation (and representation) of the original Shang-Chi character in the Marvel universe. His work is a perennial favorite of Berkeley’s high school students and community teens who have read his graphic novel, American Born Chinese. Attendees of this event will be able to connect this presentation to themes of identity, belonging, racism, xenophobia, and the Chinese immigrant experience.

In advance of the event event, the Library will be giving a limited number of Shang-Chi: Marvel Universe (Volume 2). Visit the Central Branch for more information.

Registration is required. Register for the event on Zoom.

May is AAPI Heritage Month.
