To keep my little boys' brains engaged over the summer months, I like to sneak in learning with the library games and science-themed summer camp. If I had the time and energy, I'd be building volcanoes in the backyard while we wait for homemade treats to bake in the oven. But I don't, so I outsource.
For East Bay Families with preschoolers, Galileo is the only summer camp that offers a pre-k program to ignite their curiosity, imagination and creativity. Galileo staff members know that for most 4- and 5-year olds, this may be their first summer camp experience and that is why we focus heavily on friendship building and working together, getting them excited to learn to collaborate. Campers are showered with guidance and attention and enticed by hands-on projects, activities, games and their fair share of face paint.
Exciting Camp Themes for learning and playing
This year, Galileo features four engaging, new themes adapted for three different age groups to inspire budding innovators combining art, science and outdoor activities around a captivating week-long narrative that’s crafted to keep kids giggling and engaged.
Here are your four fresh themes to incite innovation:
- The Incredible Human Body: The Art and Science of Being Human
- Space Explorers: Cosmic Art & Astronaut Science
- Makers Materials Challenge: Art & Engineering with a Single Supply
- Road Trip Adventure: Art & Engineering Along Route 66
At Camp Galileo kids learn that mistakes are marvelous things to make. As a mom, I love that my child is building this kind of confidence and having a blast at camp while they're at it!
Parents and kids love it
“Camp Galileo has played a tremendous role in my children's lives. It has taught them to explore and experiment, trust in others they've only just met, and think of failure as simply a step along the way. The counselors are simultaneously high energy, while also calm and comforting, and above all, go out of their way to ensure every child feels safe. It's a community we're thrilled to be part of.” ~ Jeff K, Oakland
“Galileo had my son running more, creating more, thinking more, engaging more than anywhere he's ever been. We'll be back again next year, with my daughter as well!” ~ Andrea L, Alameda
Camps like Galileo (and the older kid version Summer Quest) have the materials and staff to encourage innovative thinking and a safe space for experimenting. Campers can get engrossed in art projects, science challenges and outdoor activities that make them laugh, think and express themselves with complete freedom from mom looking over their shoulders and wondering how to clean it all up!
Watch the video to fall in love with their programming like I did. Unfortunately, I'm too old to attend.
