Music Together Classes are currently offered in Oakland, Berkeley, Alameda, Albany, Lafayette, Orinda, and Moraga in various locations and spaces. Each week, a trained Music Together teacher leads the class in singing, dancing, and playing songs that range from tender lullabies to boisterous jams using child-friendly percussion instruments. The award-winning music, illustrated songbook, and other print and online resources will help you continue the music-making fun at home and nurture your child’s musical growth—even if you don’t think of yourself as a great singer or dancer. Like parenting, making music requires no previous experience or expertise, just a willingness to get down on the floor and get silly with your child!
CANTA y BAILA CONMIGO is a unique Spanish language and culture program with dual, complementary music education and language immersion goals through the music of Spanish-speaking countries. Designed for beginners and native speakers alike, CyBC creates a playful, interactive atmosphere where language learning is integrated naturally and organically into the musical experience.
Rhythm Kids is an offering for pre-K and early elementary students who know what they like: Telling silly stories, playing games, and being in charge. In each weekly music class, children drum, sing, move, and play to rhythms inspired by musical traditions around the world, from West African Gahu, to Japanese Taiko, to Brazilian Samba. The active Rhythm Kids classes for big kids tap into how children this age are wired to learn, with music games, animal rhythm stories, and lots of stomping-flying-climbing fun.
