The Color Run comes to Alameda (with promo code)

The Color Run, a super fun twist on the running road race with a selfie sensibility, will bring “The Happiest 5K on the Planet” to Alameda Point on August 18.

The race starts at 8 am, however, there are no winners or exact finish times. (BYO watch.)

Everyone is encouraged to wear white at the starting line. As participants enter the course, they experience Color Zones, powdered pigment puffing into the air. Hold your breath! Wear sunglasses! Runners finish the course more-or-less plastered in color.

Children are welcome to walk, run, or ride in a stroller. There are two options for all Little Color Runners 5 and younger on the registration form. They can register for a super low fee and get the full participant kit (white t-shirt, headband, medal, and color powder), or chose to register for free without a participant kit. Kids 6 and older should register as participants.

A foam zone offers a post-race sensory experience, too, and the whole event is filled with giant unicorns, rainbows, music, and three-dimensional fun. Nickelodeon is a sponsor, so there are sure to be entertaining photo opps and swag that kids will love at the end of the event.

The Bay Area run will benefit the American Diabetes Association, the nation’s leading non-profit organization supporting American children and adults living with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes.
