Ticket Alert: Dinosaur Adventure Drive-Thru at Alameda County Fairgrounds

I think you’ve got to hand it to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton for pivoting this way and that way to create family-friendly experiences through this crazy 2020 year! How do you follow up innovative food trucks and drive-in movies? With a drive-through dinosaur experience, of course!

Dinosaur Adventure is offering a 30- to 45-minute driving tour of prehistoric times with giant-scale dinosaurs and an accompanying audio tour. You’ll see 80 life-sized roaring dinosaurs including a 40-foot T-Rex tower over your family. Stay in your car. People riding in the backs of pickups are not allowed.

Upgrade options include lots of merchandise like plush toys, swords (?), and shirts. You can easily add one or more adventure packs right when you buy your ticket times. An “adventure pack” has Dinosaur Adventure backpack, tie-in kids tee shirt, Dinosaur Adventure toy, coloring kit, dino hatch egg, & dino fossil dig kit, and cotton candy.

  1. Don’t bother going to this unless your child is like 3-4yrs old. Nighttime would be better the. Day maybe but for $50, this is a joke!! Total waste of time. Don’t bother. Oh, and the audio that you download and is supposed to follow the tour, doesn’t go in order so it’s useless too.

  2. You shouldn’t promote this. Tickets were oversold, we waited 90min in one place (terrible w 2 small kids in a car and not knowing ahead of time). Half of the dinosaurs “exhibits” had dinosaurs tipped over, plants knocked over and lights not working. It was terrible. See FB for more of the same comments.

  3. I do not recommend for young kids. We had tickets for the 3-5pm slot on Sunday and arrived at 4pm. We waited an hour and a half in the lot to get in, and by then it was dark and half the dinosaurs didn’t have lights. It took a really long time to get through and my toddler was so over being in his car seat. Had we known it would be such a long wait without much payoff, we would have skipped altogether.

  4. Please please please parents do not go to this garbage. It’s basically one big loop with lil dinosaurs scenes. There was even small dinosaurs that they clearly ripped from a carousel or a ride at a park. The saddles were still on. It’s such a waste and the cost per car is stupid. The audio does not go in order. We visited 11/26/2020. Don’t go!?

  5. We should have been informed ahead of time especially with young kids that it’s a very long wait (80-90 min) just to get in the gate so that we can plan accordingly. Quite frustrating and tickets are no refundable.
