An Oakland family who stayed at Long Dream Farm, an AirBnb-slash-working dairy farm in the Sierra Foothills, recommended this short getaway where kids can roam in the fresh air and get up close with farm animals. We wanted to share the idea in time for you to make some 2023 plans to which you can look forward.
The house, available to rent by the night, is four bedrooms and can sleep eight people. A deck with views of the property, including a pond, allows you to sit outside with the stars.
The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans and basic condiments for food preparation.
There is a washer and dryer in the house, and if you are considering a warmer weather stay (June is wide open as of this writing!), note that the house has AC and there is a creek for swimming.
The farm is home to a variety of animals, from cattle to emu, and you are invited to get to know them. Guests have access to the whole farm, within safety standards, and the hosts are happy to provide information or a tour when time permits.
From the owner, “We are a working dairy farm and creamery producing yogurt, butter, ice cream, and cheese. There is also a large population of free-range laying chickens for eggs. We are committed to high standards of animal happiness and general welfare and are on the leading edge of ethical dairy and egg production.”
The 90-acre property is full of kid-friendly features, from a pond with a rowboat to a vintage fire truck that can be climbed on. There are trails, a play structure, and open spaces, in addition to the dairy farm happenings.
If you want to experience rural California, this is the place!
Long Dream Farm is located in Lincoln, CA, about 30 minutes from Auburn, CA.

The links just direct to AirBNB – not to any specific place, FYI. Maybe it is because the post is 2+ years old?
