The classes are designed to be hands-on experience, targeted for kids from ages 4-14 years old building useful kitchen skills.
Kitchen On Fire (Berkeley, Oakland)
This learning lab for cooking offers occasional workshops for adult-children pairs and families. Make sure to call and check if your adult class can accommodate a child (age 12 and up).
Sprouts (East Bay various)
In-restaurant cooking classes, workshops, and seasonal camps for kids 7-13. Bay Area chefs offer 2-hour cooking classes right inside their restaurants. Sprouts’ aspiring chefs cook and eat everything themselves, hands-on, right alongside. Menus are seasonal and nutritious: homemade ricotta, gnocchi, frittatas, sushi, orange almond cake, and more! Lesson plans and recipes include crucial nutritional lessons, including sugar reduction and awareness.
Spun Sugar (Berkeley)
Spun Sugar is all about sweets. Its calendar indicates kid-friendly workshops on vacations and weekends with a (*). Recent kid-friendly classes include fancy cookies and cupcake fever. Children under 7 must be accompanied by a parent.
