Have you ever heard of a King Tide? There’s something amazing happening and you’re invited to witness it. We’ll do more than just witness it. We will experience it up close.
Because of the moon’s position in relation to the earth in mid-December, there will be a King Tide. The King Tide brings super high tides, which show us what sea level rise will look like in the not so distant future. Because tides swing like a pendulum every 6 hours, the King Tide also brings super low tides, which stretch out beaches into vast expanses of rocks, sand, and mud. Check out this really cool project about the King Tide.
You’re invited to go to Point Pinole Regional Shoreline to experience this phenomenon firsthand. We are going on Sunday, December 11 at 1pm till sunset. It’s a short half-mile walk from the parking lot to the beach, but then there are miles of beach to explore.
Directions to the King Tide outing, the link to RSVP, what to bring, and other details are over on Outside Kids.
Invite your neighbors, friends, family. Invite classmates and colleagues. All are welcome. The beach is big. Super dooper big. There is room for everyone.
