Have you heard about Project Night Night? If you’re looking for a way to give back to others with your children this holiday season, this might be what you’re looking for. Project Night Night gives nighttime comforts to homeless children right here in the East Bay.
What is Project Night Night?
A charity that donates over 25,000 tote bags (each year) including a security blanket, children’s book, and a stuffed animal.
How does it work?
Caring people like you order the new tote bag for $3.50 (minimum order is 10 bags to keep shipping costs low) and fill it with a new items per the directions: a lovey, an age appropriate book and a blanket. Project Night Night will help you find a local shelter that will accept and distribute the packages to little ones in need.
How we did it: Since there is a 10 bag minimum, I sent a message out to our circle of classes, friends, and our babysitting co-op hoping to get at least 8 people that wanted to help us participate.
I received requests for SEVENTY-TWO bags! I ordered the totes from Project Night Night and received them four business days later. I am making sure each of these people will fill their empty totes and drop them at our designated homeless shelter in Berkeley, CA at a time that is convenient for them.
I was deeply touched that so many in our community had such compassion in their hearts for others. I really wanted my girls to have the opportunity to shop for another child their age who is going through a difficult time.
