We are grateful for the support of Workman Publishing and the Rec Room Cafe for making this event possible.
Maybe you’ve already heard the good news: our favorite websitefor parenting tips and tricks is now a brilliant book, Parent Hacks: 134 Genius Shortcuts for Life with Kids! Just released, it offers adorable quirky illustrations right along with some of the best tips from the Parent Hacks website readers. Author and Bay Area native, Asha Dornfest, joined us for a toddler playdate at the Rec Room Cafe on the eve of her book’s launch. And it turned out to be the perfect place to celebrate.
The children explored the play space while the parents drank (locally brewed) Ruby’s Roast coffee and swapped tips on everything from potty training to keeping doorknobs quiet once little ones are asleep. Asha read a few of her favorite hacks from the book and met our guests one-on-one for a signing at the table with Whitney.
The Rec Room is a terrific neighborhood cafe with small imagination zones, costumes, gross motor space, delicious snacks, craft projects, and perfect coffee. Kids were free to play in the treehouse, on stage with costumes, baby crawling room, or with fun art projects. Our party coincided with the Special Families Play Date hosted by Alameda County Office of Education for 0-3 year olds, and it was double the fun to all play together {Note: The Special Families Play Date meets weekly on Monday mornings at the Rec Room if you want to check it out another time}.
Our party guests received a few special perks in addition to the play space like a deal on the brand new book, lively discussion, hot coffee, and a bag of goodies courtesy of Munckin. Another grand prize was provided by Workman Publishing of some amazing Sandra Boynton board books. We love to throw a good party and hope you can come to the next one!
Parent Hacks: 134 Genius Shortcuts for Life with Kids is available now and I promise you will learn a few genius shortcuts to to make it worth your while. PS it makes a great gift!
