Preschooler play party with Peaceable Kingdom was hecka fun! - 510 Families

Preschooler play party with Peaceable Kingdom was hecka fun!

We recently hosted a lively preschooler paint and play party (a.k.a. Petite Picasso) at Twirl  with Peaceable Kingdom, and I wanted to share some event pictures and stories so you could ALL join us there virtually. Whitney and I love meeting our readers and hearing from you what makes a great {510} families experience. Thank you for playing with us.

Shannon from Fig and Peach Photography was on hand to take some lovely photos of the children and parents enjoying the party. Her keen eye for lovely images combined with the already whimsical backdrop of the play space made for some fabulous pictures of our charming guests. I’d love a photo like the ones below on my office wall (and I barely know these people!).

Let’s talk about cooperation and kindness. The team from Berkeley’s own Peaceable Kingdom showed up with temporary tattoos (for bodies AND clothes!) and their special blend of board games that are lots of fun for the whole family. If you don’t already know about Peaceable Kingdom games, let me tell you that they can change the entire vibe around family game night with little kids to reduce tears and encourage collaboration and kindness. Kids learn to work together as a team in respectful and compassionate ways to defeat the game instead of each other. Sounds pretty good, right?

I think we can all agree that playing games should mean more giggles and joy.

At Peaceable Kingdom, we help kids play well together so they can play well in the world.

But, wait. There was lots more to do at Twirl! Little artists also had plenty of time to get messy with paint and creation stations. These exploration areas are set up all the time with different materials at Twirl. During our party, there were brushes and cool wheels to roll through the paint. Thank goodness for tiny aprons, too.

Twirl has a custom-designed climbing structure in the middle of the room with smaller role play cubbies set off to the sides. I waited all morning for my turn with this cozy swing but the little guests kept getting there first. Probably for the best.

We hardly had time to put on the costumes because the chalk walls, train tables, mini kitchen, and doll houses kept us too busy. If you want to plan your own play date, Twirl is at 1424 Park St. in Alameda and they have very frequent drop-in play times as well as other special events and parties.

Thanks again to our guests and to our sponsors, Peaceable Kingdom and Twirl, who make fun events like this possible! Hope you can come next time!
