San Francisco FlameThrowers offer family-friendly spectator sport in Oakland

Did you know we have a team in the American Ultimate Disc League? The FlameThrowers are our local Ultimate team!

This Saturday, April 9, marks the opening game of the 2016 season of professional Ultimate at which the (510) will be represented by the San Francisco FlameThrowers from Oakland. With seven home games on the schedule, Bay Area families can cheer on the FlameThrowers at their Lake Merritt-adjacent venue, Laney College.

The sport

Ultimate Frisbee combines elements of football and soccer with a flying disc. The FlameThrowers tell us, “If you have never seen Ultimate played at the highest level, you will be amazed by the skills and athleticism of these world-class athletes competing in this fast-paced and dynamic sport. ”

Every game includes a half-time show, and the venue will be dotted with sponsor booths, food truck choices, and a Kids Zone with a free bounce house to entertain your family.

At 5 pm on Saturday, April 9, a Women's All-Star Game will take place at the Laney College Stadium in downtown Oakland. One ticket gets you into both the women's game and the FlameThrowers game that follows at 6 pm.
