Eat Real Fest in Jack London Square

Back at Jack London Square on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, the Eat Real Fest will be a comfortable, outdoor activity as long as the temperatures stay moderate. (Past years have featured melting ice cream and high demand for water!)

Intended to promote our awareness of how wonderful fresh, homemade food can be, Eat Real Fest will introduce attendees to amazing new places to eat. Street food and small restaurant vendors set up trucks and offer their wares for $1 to $10 each (some offer small portions in order to do that).  Expect lots of booths named “Dirt to Dish”, “Ocean to Table,” “Farm to Fridge”, or “Vineyard to My Wine Glass.” Cooking demos abound.

Admission is free.

Is the Eat Real Festival good for kids?

“It has been great for kids in the past,” says our co-founder, Heather Flett. “Crowded and absolutely delicious with hands-on kids activities and tasting to promote eating real food.”

I’m not so sure if it’s good for my kids, but if yours like to eat, consider this free weekend outing!

Years ago, four-year-old Holden joined cooking educator Shayna Marmar on stage for a cooking demonstration of scissor salsa salad, and left happily covered with (artisanal) ice cream goo.

Expect a gajillion food trucks, live demonstrations, classes, tastings, tiny food samples, and other activities to let your kids know that REAL food is GOOD food.

Admission is free, food is available for purchase, and select classes require pre-registration and payment. (In the past, some activities have been designed for kids. Currently, here’s the list of ticketed classes, which is expected to grow before the event takes place.)
