Tall ships invite visitors at Jack London Square

Thanks to reader Peggy Shih for this tip!

TICKET ALERT and Ahoy mates! The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain are docked at Jack London Square for a tour for a brief time this October. Visitors can enjoy a 3-hour Battle Sail — a swashbuckling maritime adventure with real battle cannon fire.

Young passengers can lend a hand raising a sail with the friendly, energetic crew and learn about these historic sailing vessels. An added bonus are the great views along the San Francisco Bay and the Port of Oakland.

Recommended for kids 5 and up because of the close quarters and loud cannon fire (all children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult)!
