Ticket Alert: VR Space Explorers Experience for 8+

I thank the nice folks behind Space Explorers: THE INFINITE for complimentary tickets for my eleven-year-old and me. All opinions are our own.

Space Explorers: THE INFINITE is taking over the Richmond Craneway Pavilion from now through April 2023.

This NASA-inspired experience is the first-of-its-kind virtual reality odyssey into Space, right here in the East Bay. My eleven-year-old was appropriately awestruck after our virtual reality excursion to the International Space Station. Once we left the building for the breezy Bay view, he declared the experience “37 times better than expected and I already expected it to be amazing.” High praise, indeed.

What to expect at INFINITE

You’ll enter the space-age welcome room for a briefing before walking toward a virtual liftoff. Guests are given a headset and brief instructions and then set free for wandering. Grab at the blue orbs in front of you for personal stories and narration of specifics.

The experience will take guests on a 60-minute journey — most of it in a VR headset — to roam freely inside a full-scale 3D replica of the International Space Station (ISS). Kids, aged 8+ can immerse themselves in Space alongside the astronauts and admire breathtaking views of Earth.

After the walking portion, you’ll be steered toward a comfy seat for a final Space vignette in the headset. If you’ve seen a lot of science fiction movies, this is the time when you’ll want to appreciate the realness of the footage.

The final few moments are spent walking through an immersive light and sound art installations before exiting through the gift shop.
