Want to have some dates on the calendar that your family is looking forward to? Here are some live performances coming up:
A Year with Frog and Toad. I saw this show with my son when he was about five, and we loved it. The songs are catchy and the stories from the book really come to life through the (adult) actors who perform it. Bay Area Children’s Theatre will offer Frog and Toad showings from mid-November to mid-December in Berkeley, and then move to San Francisco and Mill Valley. Buy tickets here.
A Little Princess. Presented by Berkeley Playhouse in December, now you have fair warning to read the classic novel with your child before the show. See dates here.
Disney on Ice at the Oakland Arena. (Read our previous review.) This year’s show is called Passport to Adventure and it will be showing October 16-20.
The promotional company for this show has shared a couple of deals with us.

The Buddy Club variety shows. The fall season starts in early November. These are great shows for young children — funny, engaging, and often amazing. (Read our review here.) Buy tickets in advance.
Beauty and the Beast. Splurge alert! This show is at the Orpheum theater in San Francisco over the holiday season. I found this show a bit boring, but I have never been a fan of the Disney movie. If you have a Belle-lover in your house, this Broadway-scale show would be a huge treat. My son and I have loved seeing The Grinch and Shrek: The Musical on the big stage in San Francisco. See ticket options here.
