The Water Lantern Festival, a new touring event that will reach 100 cities this year, will launch its inaugural Oakland event on Saturday, September 14.
Promoting themes of hope, love, and happiness, this festival enables guests to push their uniquely decorated lanterns out into the water at sunset, making a beautiful spectacle and moment of connection.
Each adult ticket provides entry into the festival area and comes with a floating lantern, commemorative drawstring bag, marker, and wristband. Families are welcome to bring their own food, plus food trucks will be on site.
In addition, the price covers the cost of collecting and removing the lanterns from the water following the event as well as cleaning up any trash that may have been previously been in or around the water.
Participants will decorate their lanterns using the provided markers at the event.
“We are ecstatic to be recognized by USA Today and 10Best.com for the awesome award as the nations Best Cultural Festival,” said Mike Schaefer, co-founder of Water Lantern Festival. “Our team works very hard to create an incredible experience for our guests, where people from all walks of life come together to share a uniquely emotional and memorable community experience. It’s fantastic to share this positive experience with everyone.”
Although the Festival is calling the September 14 event their “Oakland” date, it will take place at Marina Park in San Leandro, a waterfront park with two playgrounds.
Purchase tickets for the Water Lantern Festival at www.WaterLanternFestival.com. Discounted tickets available with advance purchase, starting at $25 until August 16, and rising to $40 on the day of the event. Other cities have sold out.
