Community Music Day is Crowden’s annual free musical carnival for the entire family. Community Music Day is Crowden’s annual musical carnival for all ages. Join Crowden, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra for a musical morning at a free, on-campus event in North Berkeley.
Here’s what to expect:
Instrument Petting Zoo: This gigantic Zoo is waiting for you to try an instrument or two… or six! Try all the different instruments of the symphonic orchestra to receive a very special prize. There are even miniature violins and cellos for tiny hands and fingers!
Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, best for 7 and under. Dancing is encouraged at Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra: short, engaging concerts designed for the youngest listeners.
Musical performances for all ages throughout the day, including inspiring young musicians from Crowden programs
Construct your own instruments to make music at home within the instrument crafts room. Activities include face painting, prizes for every kid, and much more.
Access to Very First Concerts will be on a first-come, first-served basis. These performances repeat at 10:15, 11, and 11:45 am.
Community Music Day is free to the public at Crowden Music Center. Please register in advance to save your spot.
Every year, The Crowden School opens its real-world door to the community for a day filled with free hands-on music experiences for children. There will be a Chamber Orchestra concert designed for very young children with several seatings and a number of hands-on experiences with instruments. New this year are hands-on violin and cello demonstrations for children ages 3+.
