Community Music Day is Crowden’s annual free musical carnival for the entire family. Join Crowden, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Harmony Project and Music Multicultural Fellowship for a day of musical fun and exploration!
Festivities feature Crowden’s ever-popular “Instrument Petting Zoo,” where kids and adults alike touch and learn to make sounds on the instruments of a symphony orchestra. We even have special miniature string instruments for tiny hands and fingers.
Dancing is encouraged at Very First Concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra: short, engaging concerts designed for the youngest listeners. Tumbling mats for wriggling kiddos, short selections, and hands-on musical activities make these fun performances the perfect way to introduce children to the joys of live classical music.
Members of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra will give a very special performance and host an Historical Instrument Petting Zoo. Kids can even “draw” their own music and hear it played by members of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra!
Featuring musical performances for kids, by kids throughout the day, including inspiring young musicians from Crowden programs and the Harmony Project.
Construct your own instruments to make music at home within our instrument crafts room. Activities include face painting, prizes for every kid, and much more!
Community Music Day is free to the public at Crowden Music Center on October 8, 10am to 2pm. Families can simply drop in at any time and participate in the activities. Performances are first-come, first served throughout the day; no tickets are necessary.
