This summer, the heart of Hayward will come alive with culture, community, and celebration at the Juneteenth Freedom Celebration, taking place on Saturday, June 21st from 2 pm to 6 pm in Heritage Plaza. This powerful, family-friendly event honors the historical significance of Juneteenth, the day that marked the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in 1865 and celebrates the enduring contributions of Black Americans to our nation’s story.
The celebration promises an afternoon filled with live music from talented local performers, delicious food reflecting the richness of Black culinary traditions, and family-friendly activities that bring together people of all ages. Special guests and performers include the Black Cowboy Coalition, Leo Oliver & The Blues Knockouts, West Coast Caravan of Allstars and more! Beyond entertainment, the event provides a vital space to support and uplift local Black-owned businesses, connect with community leaders, and reflect on the historical and cultural significance of Juneteenth.
