Planting the future invites the community to participate in an ART MOB! Bring out your inner artist! Young, old, and otherwise are invited to come make art at Webster Park (1435 Webster St, Alameda).
Throwing Shade is a community art show bringing awareness to the types of communities and neighborhoods where shade trees can be found… and more importantly highlighting the neighborhoods where shade trees cannot be found.
At the art mob you can throw shade on one of the wood panels, or celebrate the pollinators that support Alameda’s ecosystem by joining in pollinator dress up, hooping and dancing. Little ones can also add a bee or butterfly hand (or foot!) print to the fence around Webster Park. 10×10” panels will be provided, along with paints and brushes to make your mark. Art supplies from home are welcome; biodegradable materials preferred if available. Completed panels will be placed inside “bee hotel” frames and hung around the outside of Webster Park for the community and pollinators to enjoy!
