East Bay kids have a new hometown hero to cheer for, and the City of Oakland is organizing a special event to do just that. Alysa Liu will be honored at a free community event (RSVP required) in downtown Oakland on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The event will begin at 12 pm, and “doors” open at 9 am. To get tickets — maximum two (2) per order — sign up at Visit Oakland’s website >
This is not a parade format, but a gathering at Frank Ogawa Plaza, and there will be a stage from which Alysa will address the crowd. Food trucks and water stations are expected.
Take BART to Oakland’s 12th Street BART station.
Other things to know about the Alysa Liu Celebration in Oakland
There will be security screening, so don’t bring anything that will not be allowed, including balloons, drones, or anything that will obstruct the viewing of other community members. Signs may not be on poles and may not be larger than 11″x17″.
This will be a crowded event, so plan accordingly.
