Arthur Mac’s Tap and Snack is a modern retro beer garden nestled right next to the Macarthur Bart station in the Temescal District of Oakland. A rather inconspicuous establishment on a busy street, this beer garden offers a little bit of something for everyone in the whole family– including the family pup.
With a retractable ceiling, heat lamps, various table seating options, retro arcade games, and a back deck with a kids play area (most suitable for children under 3), children of all ages will think you came for them. The food menu consists of your typical bar food very well executed: pizza, wings, fries, salads, and small appetizers. For a bonus feature, there’s soft serve ice cream!
My family had the good fortune of attending a baby shower at Arthur Mac’s Tap and Snack, and we were able to try all their food options, wines, and beers on draft. All food options were reliably “good.” They had a wide selection of beers and wines with knowledgeable staff to navigate the different flavor palates and provide tastings upon request.
The outdoor garden has a combination of private and more public seating with quiet tables along the periphery and large, shared picnic tables. Dogs are welcome to hang out at the tables too with dog water bowls available.
Bathrooms have baby changing tables and stools for little ones.
The kids’ play space was off-to-the-side, private, and had a bench for adult seating. We spent much of our time here as our children were occupied playing and we were able to engage in adult conversations with our friends. An extension of the play area was a hidden gem of retro arcade games!
Bottom line: We’ll definitely be back!
