Bedford Art Gallery in Walnut Creek is Small & Kid-friendly

Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek is part of the Lesher Center of the Arts. It is a small art space with exhibits that rotate every few months. Art installations are often colorful and kid-friendly. The gallery is one large room, and one smaller room.

Bedford Gallery frequently hosts family-friendly art activities. Gallery docents will be on the floor to lead informal tours and answer questions. Visiting can be a a great after-school or school’s-out activity for families, or a chance to catch up with a friend over beautiful art.

Previous exhibitions give a wonderful idea of what’s to come from giant motion installations to LEGO-inspired artwork and adorable inflated blow-ups, the creativity is on full display.

Opening April 9 is A Beautiful Mess: Weavers And Knotters Of The Vanguard, an exhibition of fiber artists that push the boundaries of their textile-based medium to the extreme. More

And this summer, get excited for Bird, Nest, Nature, a show of artists inspired by feathered creatures.

Plan your visit to the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek

Location: Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Dr. Walnut Creek
First thing to know is that the gallery is tucked inside the Lesher Center for the Performing Arts, which is undergoing construction through summer 2020.

You can park in a nearby parking garage. The gallery is also two blocks from BART and accessible via the free bus/trolley.

Hours and rates:
The gallery is closed Mondays and in between exhibitions for installation. Regular hours are Tuesday – Sunday 12pm-5pm. The first Tuesday of each month is FREE.

Adult $5
Youth 13-17 $3
Children 12 and under are always FREE.

Free with performances: Ticket holders to events at the Lesher Center for the Arts (performing arts) will be admitted to the gallery free of charge on the ticketed date.

Free for library card holders: Find out about Discover and Go program through the local libraries.

Free for kids under thirteen: As mentioned above, children 12 and under are always FREE

Where to eat near Bedford Gallery: Lettuce Restaurant, where picky kids can order pasta with no red sauce and the rest of us can have a nice salad.
