On Saturday, October 14 from 10 am to 5 pm, the BORP Adaptive Sports Expo is a free opportunity for people with disabilities to try many different sports and recreation activities at three locations in West Berkeley, all in one day.
Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program (BORP) provides sports, recreation, and fitness programming for youth and adults with physical disabilities and visual impairments.

Open to all ages, BORP staff and coaches will offer fun and safe opportunities to learn more about and try cycling, kayaking, power soccer, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball, goalball, adaptive fitness classes, pickleball, and rock climbing. The Expo will also feature a family-friendly fair with games and activities like ping-pong, face painting, pumpkin carving, music, contests, and info booths with community organizations and vendors.

There are lots of really cool activities to choose from and you can try a bunch of new things at the Expo. Please, register for no more than one time slot per activity and factor in travel time if you choose activities in multiple locations.

Cycling & Kayaking at Aquatic Park
BORP’s waterfront location is the spot to check out adaptive cycles and kayaks from 9 am to noon. If you want a co-pilot or double kayak, just ask.

Team Sports & Family-Friendly Fair at James Kenney Community Center

Try adaptive sports including goalball, wheelchair basketball, quad rugby, and power soccer. You’ll also find the barbecue and fun fair at this large park and community center. Times vary.

Rock Climbing at Ironworks Climbing Gym
Choose an afternoon time slot for climbing with helpful coaches.
Location: Ironworks Climbing Gym, 800 Potter Street, Berkeley

Note that guests must register and sign waivers for each activity. Allow for travel time to get to different locations. There will be a shuttle.
Everything is free except for the BBQ. Feel free to bring your own food.
