Golden Tee Golfland Family Fun Center in Castro Valley is about 15 minutes from Montclair and 25 minutes from Berkeley. I think my kids would be thrilled just to pull up in front of this destination with the grand castle theme in front.
Golfland offers a classic outdoor miniature golf experience. There are two courses to choose from with lots of challenges.
No family amusement experience is complete without a set of machines that eat your quarters (or tokens) and force you to choose between a plastic ring and a pack of gum at a prize counter. So yes, there is a small arcade there as well.
Save a few dollars per person on mini-golf when you purchase tickets from Golfland online before arriving >
Prices are lower for kids under 12 and lower for everyone on weekdays.
We have included Golfland in various round-ups of things to do with kids when school is closed, but it’s also worth noting how affordable the birthday party packages are.
For $179, your child can have the “First Class Birthday Party” which includes:
- 10-person party of 90 minutes in Party Room or Patio
- 2 extra large 1-topping pizzas
- Two 2-liter bottles of soda
- 18 holes of miniature golf per person
- 20 Family-Friendly Arcade tokens per person
Golfland supplies plates, cups, napkins and tablecloths.
Outside food is not permitted, with the exception of cake and ice cream or whatever dessert you are providing for your guests. Bring your own knives, candles, and cake plates/ice cream bowls if you need them. You may bring extra decorations (within reason!)
Extra guests are $15.99 per person for the same golf and arcade privileges described above, plus 2 slices of pizza per person and soda.
Plan your visit to Golden Tee Golfland
We recommend being at least 5 years old for enough focus to play miniature golf. No special clothing or footwear is required. Sunhats are advised.
There is no restaurant onsite, but the Lake Chabot Public Market is about five minutes drive and is a fun place for kids who will eat ramen, poke or Korean BBQ. Don’t need lunch? Try the unicorn ice cream at Milk and Cookie Bar in the Public Market.

One thing to note is that there is a hole on one of the two courses set up as the “Passage to the Golden Orient,” with a pagoda-type structure. We were surprised to find such outdated, racist signage. Just wanted to let other parents know, so you’re not caught off guard as we were.
Thanks for the heads up! Did you let management know? I am going to share this comment with them.
