I have been looking at your website to share with the families we support at our agency. I noticed that you do not have ANY inclusive camps for children with disabilities or foster youth. Is this population not a part of your vision?
Stacy
Stay tuned, Stacy! We will be updating with more camps throughout the spring. I have also heard that if you write a note to a specific camp asking about sliding scales and accomodations, you will often hear back positively.
Hi Stacy, as an employee of Hayward Rec and Park, most of our camps have an ability to include special needs with advanced notice and we offer scholarships. Thank you for pointing this out, so we know to make it clear on our offerings.
I mentor a 14 year old Oakland youth who has never had a day camp experience and would really benefit from the experience. How do I find out which of the available camps gives needs-based tuition assistance?
Zoe, Hi We have a special post about affordable day camps that hasn’t been updated yet. My strongest advice is to directly ask the camps you’re most interested in.
