Sarah, a mother to two in Temescal, always takes her kids to do the best stuff. She describes a recent outing to Smith Family Farms:
I took the kids to an awesome pick your own farm (apples, pomegranates, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, persimmons, and a few peaches left – everything is $1/pound and you can just mix and match as much as you want) and pumpkin patch out in Brentwood yesterday that I’d totally recommend.
There was a little farm of animals, a “barn show” of singing, and tractor rides out into the field to pick your own pumpkins. It was $9 admission, which included a pumpkin. There’s a little hay tunnel and corn field maze. It’s all very low-key, nothing too grand or fancy, no jumpy houses. Yes, it was a bit of a drive, but it was really great and we spent FOUR hours there!
Editor’s Note: Bring your grocery totes to carry pumpkins you choose from the patch.
